Join my subscriber chat
A private space to keep in touch, like a quiet table in the back of your favorite hangout
There’s new addition to my Substack publication—the Steven Thomas Howell subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app I’ve set up for subscribers—like a group chat or live hangout. I’ll post short thoughts and updates , and you can jump in anytime. A “newsletter” has always seemed kind of pompous to me—as though I have such earthshaking news that you can’t miss. Instead, I’d like this to be a simple place where we can keep in touch and just talk about things without broadcasting a conversation on a social media channel.
So, let’s talk about what we’re thinking, reading, and writing; what we’re doing and making, and what we see going on in the world.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
You are inspiring me to return to my long-neglected novel. When last engaged with it, I was doing a rewrite into Scribener. But it was so long ago, I can’t even remember how Scribener works!
